Republican National Committee finance chairman and casino Mogul Steve Wynn was recently accused of sexual misconduct by several female employees. The numerous reports span decades and allege a pattern of Wynn coercing female employees into sexual acts, as well as making unwanted sexual comments towards them. In 2005, Wynn paid a manicurist a $7.5 million dollar settlement after she reported he forced her to have sex. Although Wynn has dismissed these allegations as “preposterous,” several reports corroborate claims that he repeatedly propositioned the women he employed.
Wynn’s political ties make these accusations especially dicey for him. It has been speculated that Wynn’s friendship with now-President Donald Trump facilitated him obtaining his current leadership role in the RNC. These ties and the current #MeToo and #TimesUp movements make the future of his pending projects and existing casinos unclear. Wynn has several prominent casinos on the Strip and is expected to unveil a property in Everett in 2019.
